Tide Commercial
I saw a commercial for Tide and it was funny but also a sensitive subject and I could see how some people could take offense. There's two men who are walking up to the church about to get married and an older woman comes walking out saying that she won't let them blemish the sanctity of marriage. Then the two men get upset and but before it gets much further she pulls out a tide stick and takes the stain off of his shirt. Then they understand what she was talking about but at first they thought she was saying that gay marriage was blemishing the sanctity of marriage. It was funny because they seemed to have a good attitude about it once they understood her. I was surprised to see such a controversial topic in something like a Tide ad. I actually don't know what kind of feedback they got for this ad but I'm assuming there was a wide range of reactions. I think they were intending to be funny and to some extent it was but to me it just wasn't as funny as it could have been but maybe thats just me. It definitely got the attention of gay rights supporters which seemed to be their aim. The appeal seemed to be the need for affiliation because you see these two men who are very happy, about to get married and their associated with tide so it makes you feel like if you but tide products you can be as happy as they are.
