Tide Commercial

I saw a commercial for Tide and it was funny but also a sensitive subject and I could see how some people could take offense. There's two men who are walking up to the church about to get married and an older woman comes walking out saying that she won't let them blemish the sanctity of marriage. Then the two men get upset and but before it gets much further she pulls out a tide stick and takes the stain off of his shirt. Then they understand what she was talking about but at first they thought she was saying that gay marriage was blemishing the sanctity of marriage. It was funny because they seemed to have a good attitude about it once they understood her. I was surprised to see such a controversial topic in something like a Tide ad. I actually don't know what kind of feedback they got for this ad but I'm assuming there was a wide range of reactions. I think they were intending to be funny and to some extent it was but to me it just wasn't as funny as it could have

Geico Racoon Commercial

I was watching TV when I saw this commercial and it made me not only laugh but also think about why some companies use different marketing aspects to get people to buy their product. I think the target audience for this ad specifically is people with a good sense of humor and people who like other people with a good sense of humor. When dealing with something like car insurance that’s kind of scary if your a new driver or nerve racking even if your an experienced driver because you always want to get the best deal when buying a service. So having a funny commercial makes the viewer feel more comfortable and it gives more of a friendly feeling so that you’ll want to chose them as your insurance provider. They also made the raccoons relate to us. They had the raccoons digging through the garbage for food which is something we don’t do but one of them ate something gross and he told his friend to taste it. Then the narrator said “If you taste something bad, you want someone else to try it
